The Clifton Village Resident’s Association, CVRA, is an organisation run for the benefit of village residents by village residents.
Everyone who lives in the village over the age of 18 can be a member. Membership is renewed annually in April The current membership fees are £5 per household and £2.50 for a single person household.
Fees are used for the benefit of the village residents. Examples are for buying the annual Christmas tree, paying for the printing of the village newsletter and paying for insurance to cover CVRA events as well as paying for an auditor who examines the CVRA accounts each year.
The committee encourages every eligible resident to support their village community and join the Village Resident’s Association.
The CVRA is run by a committee which consists of a Chairman, an Honorary Secretary, and Honorary Treasurer together with a number of other committee members, currently six in number. Each year the committee members relinquish their office and can be eligible for re-election, at the Annual General Meeting, AGM.
Each May the CVRA hold the AGM in the village hall. Nominations for the election of officers are made at the AGM or before the meeting. Nominations have to be supported by a seconder, with the nominee having consented first of course. A form is always included in the Spring Newsletter for any CVRA member to complete if they wish to take on a particular role on the committee.

The committee organises social events for village residents usually in Spring, Summer, Autumn and at Christmas:
Each member of the committee has a specific role. Most, except the secretary, look after a particular section of the village. They then take on responsibility of selling tickets for the social events and deliver newsletters to CVRA members in their village section.
Members roles also include helping to ready the village hall for social activities, buying and preparing food for social events with help from non-committee members, ensuring bar stocks are in order at CVRA events, contributing items for the newsletter and managing the village Facebook page.
If any resident has an issue that they feel needs addressing they can contact a committee member who will ensure that it is raised at a committee meeting or passed on to the chairperson or secretary if deemed more urgent.
In addition, the committee undertakes to examine any planning matters that may affect village members or the village in general. The committee liaises with public bodies, local councillors and on occasions our local MP where matters arise. Most recently this has included supporting the action on the quarry at Mill Hill and in the village itself, notifying the council on pothole issues, fallen trees and blocked drains as examples. This is usually carried out by the chairperson and the secretary in the first instance.
The CVRA publishes a newsletter every quarter and delivers these to CVRA members. Recent copies can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
